In Los Angeles, there’s no need to leave your precious fur baby behind if you plan on spending a night or two away from home. The L.A. lifestyle practically has “dog-friendly” built into it and dogs here have got it pretty darn stylin’. Beaches, trails, outdoor seating at restaurants, and so many more things-to-do allow our companions to tag along. So it makes sense that there would also be plenty of dog-friendly hotels in and around Los Angeles.
It’s so much nicer when you’re going to be away from home to not also have to be away from your pet, not to mention having to arrange for their care while you’re gone. Because let’s face it, no matter how much we trust their caregiver, we still worry about them! Well, worry no more. Whether you’re local and taking a staycation, or visiting from out of town, here’s a list of hotels where your dog is welcome!
1. Freehand Los Angeles – Downtown L.A.
This L.A. location of the Freehand collective is in a storied 1924 building that is just 1 mile from the Staples Center, L.A. Live, and the Grammy Museum (our favorite event spot in the area), along with plenty of cool eateries. This hip hotel features suites, premium rooms, and shared acommodations.
2. Westin Los Angeles Airport – LAX
If you’re flying in or out of town, this spot is located on Century Boulevard. You’ll be just a few blocks from the airport, and you and your pup will be pampered with refined comforts. And if you need to squeeze in a little work, they’ve got ergonomic work spaces help you be your productive best.
3. Aloft – El Segundo
You’ll be close to Culver City, which has been growing in popularity like crazy in recent years, and equally as close to Manhattan Beach. Just thinking about the dining options alone in those two areas is making me hungry. And this place isn’t just dog friendly – it’s goat friendly, too! Pre-Covid, they hosted goat yoga (aka “goga”) classes! We love an Aloft ourselves, and we think you will too.
4. Sofitel – Beverly Hills
Located at the crossroads of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood right near the Beverly Center, you and your pet will be living it up in French-style luxury. Pets stay free and are greeted at the front desk with treats! Entertainment, shopping, and dining will all be within paw’s reach!
5. Safari Inn – Burbank
You’ve likely seen this cool, mid-century, classic in at least one film, tv show, or commercial. With its recognizable sign and facade, you’ll get all the old Hollywood feels, while being just a stone’s throw from the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. Hot Tip: Burbank’s Bob Hope Airport is soooooo much easier to fly in and out of than LAX.
6. Hollywood Roosevelt – Hollywood
Right smack dab in the heart of Hollywood, on the Walk of Fame, is the iconic Roosevelt. It’s so cool, locals go here just to hang out at the bar. A great central location, you’ve got some of the best aspects of the city nearby in all directions. Downtown, West and East Hollywood, and Studio City in the Valley – all nearby. Not to mention all of the tourist-y trappings near Hollywood and Highland, if that’s your vibe.
7. Kimpton Shorebreak – Huntington Beach
Going to be down south in “the H.B.?” Great choice for your pup! Not only is this hotel’s enrance literally steps from the beach, but just 2 miles away is Huntington’s own dog beach!
8. Del Marcos Hotel – Palm Springs
Palm Springs is an easy day trip from Los Angeles, and it has such a fun, vintage vibe. If you love vintage mid-century modern architecture, fancy drinks poolside, and anything and everything Frank Sinatra, pack up your pooch and head for the desert! The Del Marcos is centrally located and fully equipped for your canine bestie.
9. Fairmont Miramar Hotels and Bungalows – Santa Monica
Santa Monica is another go-to hotspot for visitors and locals alike. This beach retreat and urban resort sits on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific. Bask in the ocean breeze from your private bungalow with easy access to all the beachfront activities you hearts desire.
10. The London Hotel – West Hollywood
Just off of the famed Sunset Strip, The London is ultimately luxurious with a cool English vibe and tributes to bulldogs around just about every corner. They only allow small dogs and charge a higher fee than other hotels in this list. But for a unique stay just steps from shopping, restaurants, and clubs, we think your pet (and you) is worth it!
This is merely a smattering of the dog-friendly hotels in and around Los Angeles. But we think this is a great selection that covers a variety of the “main” areas around town, as well as different tastes and budgets and a couple of day trips, too! No matter what, we hope you and your best friend have an amazing stay together and enjoy everything that this beautiful city has to offer!
